In an effort to combat the effects of
domestic violence in Alaska , the Archdiocese
of Anchorage is teaming with several other faith
communities around Anchorage
for a joint prayer service on Oct. 23 at St.
Anthony Church (825 South Klevin Street ).
The aim is to “spread messages of hope,
safety and health in relationships” for victims and survivors of domestic
violence.
The gathering, which begins at 7 p.m., will
conclude with a moment of silence recognizing those
who have been impacted by domestic violence.
Sky lanterns will be released during this time.
According to organizers, the aim of the
lanterns in to provide “symbols of compassion, support and hope.”
